About Beyond Borders

What is Beyond Borders D-E Consulting Group?

Beyond Borders D-E Consulting Group is a multidisciplinary consulting and advisory firm that helps organizations turn evidence, ideas, and opportunities into practical and sustainable solutions.

Our work spans public and global health, research, programme design and evaluation, nutrition and food security, agriculture and food systems, organizational strengthening, programme operations, resource mobilization, and capacity building.

Our philosophy is simple: good ideas can begin anywhere, knowledge should travel, and solutions should make sense in the places where they are applied.

When was Beyond Borders established?

Beyond Borders D-E Consulting Group was formally established in July 2026, but the philosophy behind the organization dates back to 2017.

For years, the founders applied this philosophy through their respective professional and personal journeys. Beyond Borders was eventually created to give that shared philosophy an organizational home.

What does “Beyond Borders” mean?

Borders are not only geographical. They can exist between disciplines, organizations, sectors, ideas, people, and opportunities.

Beyond Borders represents our commitment to connecting local knowledge with global perspectives, research with practice, health with development, strategy with implementation, and people with opportunities. That thinking is captured in our motto: Solutions Without Boundaries.

Our Services

What services does Beyond Borders provide?

Our consulting and advisory services are organized around eight areas: Research, Evidence & Learning; Programme & Project Design, Management & Evaluation; Public Health, Global Health & Health Systems; Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture & Food Systems; Organizational Strategy & Institutional Strengthening; Programme Operations, Quality Assurance & Implementation Support; Resource Mobilization, Grants & Partnership Development; and Training, Capacity Building & Knowledge Exchange.

Assignments may focus on one area or combine several depending on the client's needs.

What types of organizations do you work with?

We are positioned to work with government ministries, departments and agencies; international development organizations; non-governmental organizations; civil society organizations; foundations; academic and research institutions; healthcare and public health organizations; development partners; community-based organizations; social enterprises and businesses; professional associations; and consortiums and multi-partner programmes.

We assess each opportunity individually to determine whether our expertise and capacity are appropriate for the assignment.

Do you only work in public health?

No. Public and global health are important areas of our expertise, but Beyond Borders is intentionally multidisciplinary.

Our capabilities also extend across nutrition, food security, agriculture, food systems, research, community development, organizational effectiveness, programme operations, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, and capacity strengthening. We are particularly interested in assignments where these areas intersect.

Working With Beyond Borders

How does a typical consulting engagement begin?

Every engagement begins with understanding. We first seek to understand the client's challenge, objectives, context, expectations, timeline, and desired results.

Depending on the assignment, this may be followed by a consultation, document review, needs assessment, technical scoping exercise, or development of Terms of Reference. We then agree on the scope of work, methodology, deliverables, responsibilities, timeline, and commercial arrangements before implementation begins.

Can Beyond Borders develop a customized solution for our organization?

Yes. We recognize that organizations may face similar challenges but operate within very different contexts.

Rather than relying solely on standardized solutions, we work with clients to develop approaches that reflect their objectives, operating environment, available resources, stakeholders, institutional capacity, and intended outcomes.

Can we hire Beyond Borders for only one part of a project?

Yes. Our involvement can range from a focused technical assignment to support across an entire programme lifecycle.

For example, a client may engage us only to conduct research, develop a strategy, evaluate a programme, facilitate training, develop a proposal, conduct a quality review, or strengthen an operational system.

Can Beyond Borders work as part of a consortium or with other consulting firms?

Yes. Collaboration is central to our philosophy. We are open to working as a lead consultant, technical partner, consortium member, subcontractor, research partner, implementation partner, or specialist technical resource where the arrangement aligns with our capabilities and values.

Geographic Reach

Where does Beyond Borders work?

Beyond Borders was created with a cross-border outlook. Our team brings professional and consulting experience spanning multiple sectors, institutions, communities, and countries, including work and engagements across Africa and internationally.

We assess assignments based on the technical requirements, regulatory considerations, logistics, local partnerships, and our ability to deliver responsibly within the proposed setting.

Can Beyond Borders support clients remotely?

Yes. Many research, advisory, strategic planning, proposal development, data analysis, technical review, training, and organizational development assignments can be delivered remotely or through a hybrid model.

Where an assignment requires field presence, we work with the client to determine the most appropriate delivery arrangement.

Quality & Approach

What makes Beyond Borders different from other consulting firms?

We do not believe our value should be defined simply by the number of reports we produce.

Our approach connects evidence with action, local realities with global knowledge, strategy with implementation, and technical expertise with organizational capability. We seek to understand before recommending, collaborate rather than prescribe, and strengthen the people and systems behind the work.

How do you ensure quality?

Quality begins with selecting assignments that match our capabilities and defining expectations clearly.

Depending on the engagement, our quality processes may include technical review, standardized tools, agreed methodologies, data-quality procedures, deliverable tracking, internal review, client feedback, documentation, and quality-assurance checks.

How do you ensure solutions are appropriate to the local context?

We do not assume that a solution that worked somewhere else will automatically work in another setting.

Our approach considers local evidence, institutional realities, available resources, culture, stakeholders, implementation capacity, and the experiences of people closest to the problem.

Research, Data & Confidentiality

Does Beyond Borders undertake research and evaluation assignments?

Yes. Research, evidence, and learning are central components of our portfolio.

We can support needs assessments, operational and implementation research, programme evaluations, qualitative and quantitative studies, data-quality assessments, evidence reviews, behaviour studies, baseline and endline assessments, and development of technical and knowledge products.

How does Beyond Borders handle confidential information?

We recognize that consulting assignments may involve sensitive organizational, programme, financial, research, or stakeholder information.

Confidentiality, responsible information management, professional ethics, and compliance with agreed contractual and data-protection requirements are therefore fundamental to how we work.

Training & Capacity Building

Does Beyond Borders provide training?

Yes. We provide customized training, workshops, technical mentorship, facilitation, training-of-trainers programmes, curriculum development, and capacity-building support.

Training can be delivered in person, virtually, or through a hybrid format depending on the audience and assignment.

Do you provide standard training packages or customized training?

Both approaches may be available depending on the subject. Where customization is required, we begin by understanding the participants, organizational context, existing capabilities, and intended learning outcomes before developing the programme.

Our objective is not simply to deliver a workshop. We want participants to leave with knowledge and tools they can actually use.

Proposals, Partnerships & Engagement

Can Beyond Borders help our organization develop grant proposals?

Yes. We can support organizations with funding landscape analysis, concept notes, proposal development, results frameworks, theories of change, proposal review, budgeting support, donor compliance considerations, and resource mobilization strategies.

Is Beyond Borders open to partnerships?

Yes. We welcome conversations with consulting firms, NGOs, research institutions, universities, development organizations, independent experts, businesses, and other organizations where collaboration can create greater value.

How much do your consulting services cost?

Consulting fees depend on the scope, complexity, duration, location, expertise required, and expected deliverables.

After understanding the assignment, we develop an appropriate technical and financial proposal or quotation. This allows pricing to reflect the actual work required rather than applying one price to fundamentally different assignments.

How long does a consulting assignment take?

Timelines vary considerably. A focused technical review or training assignment may require a relatively short engagement, while research, evaluation, strategic planning, or programme implementation assignments may extend over several weeks or months.

A proposed timeline is established during the scoping and contracting process.

How can an organization engage Beyond Borders?

Organizations can contact Beyond Borders with a brief description of the challenge, opportunity, project, or service they are considering. Where available, clients may also share relevant Terms of Reference, Requests for Proposals, concept notes, or background documents.

What happens after we contact you?

We begin with a conversation. We listen to what you are trying to achieve, determine whether Beyond Borders is the right partner, and identify the expertise and approach the assignment requires.

If there is a strong fit, we move together from conversation to clarity, clarity to action, and action to results.
